So, serious question.

What do you all say to your pets? Not the obvious stuff like "Sit!" and "Stay out of the trash!" but, you know, when you're snuggling or goofing around or playing or otherwise interacting with your pet in a friendly way? (If you talk to non-animal pets, like houseplants or stuffed animals, that counts too.)

I spend a lot of time declaring that Finn is the Finniest Finn that ever Finned, that Moonpie is the Mooniest Moon and the Pie-iest Pie, and that Callie is my wonderful Callie-cat, and a darling, and a sweetie. (She's not that silly deep down.)

I mean, it's pretty heinous. How much more do you even need?

The prosecutor "did not indicate in the memorandum that she had explained to Mary and her mother the devastating effect a waiver would have on G.M.C.'s life.

Oh, cry me a damn river. Did anybody explain to him the devastating effect that his actions might have on her life? No, they assumed that boys from "good families" who get "good grades" and are destined for "good colleges" can figure it out for themselves. (Then again, they probably also assume those boys are smart enough to keep their mouths shut. If he can't refrain from boasting about his crimes, I don't know how smart he really is.)

Edit: You know, this should go without saying, but I'm going to bed and want to have sweet dreams, so just in case - I will absolutely ban anybody who tries any sort of rape apologia here. The crime is definitely rape, false accusations are still rare, and I think we've got the perp dead to rights. Sometimes the facts just aren't up for debate.

Which I'm fairly certain is what happened to the last cat she smuggled into this house. He used to jump into people's cars.

I don't even know what to do here. Obviously we flubbed intro-ing the cat to the other animals in the house. Can we get a do-over on that? Should we even try?
