Also: Does Michael only have two settings? Formal Unemotional Vulcan and Sassy Badass Black Chick? That's quite a whiplash, and sorta... well... uncomfortable.

Two: Is the Federation... somehow... opposed to seats at workstations?

Three: The dialog sounds a bit more down-to-earth than is usual in Star Trek. It's more realistic, I guess, but if I wanted realism in my fiction I wouldn't be watching Star Trek, would I?

Four: Yeah, this is definitely a third continuity.

Starving for both food and attention, poor baby. I'm calling her Sweetheart for now. If she sticks around, I'll take her down to the ASPCA van to be fixed. Not bringing her in the house, though, except for the healing period after surgery - we're full up on animals.

I'll see if I can find her a new home if I have the free time. She's clearly used to being loved. I don't know how she ended up on the street!
