Laptop hinge definitely broken
Feb. 1st, 2016 08:54 pmHinge replacement advice ranges from "you have to take apart your entire laptop" to "it's a quick fix!" to "I don't know why everybody says you have to take apart your entire laptop when it's accessible from two small screws on the base" to "omg not for beginners". I have no idea what to believe anymore, but anyway, hinges are coming in the mail. I'm going to attempt this on one of our dead laptops first. And then once it's disassembled I'll have an open laptop to play around with that I don't mind screwing up.
If I can't manage the dead laptop, then I guess I'll leave it to the experts and shell out for a repair job!
