I was about to put up signs when she came back and decided to try out her brand new super friendly attitude towards us. I could hear her saying "you ignored me the past three days! Why???"

This new friendly closeness she apparently feels for us is probably a good thing, we want pets to bond to their humans... but I don't actually like her much more than I did when she was standoffish and probably only around for the food. And it came coupled with a whole new dislike for her erstwhile kittens. They're not kittens anymore, of course, but I don't think they deserve their own mother treating them like strangers in their home. Hissing, growling, swatting, and they never do a thing to her! I confess, I have no idea how to deal with this, short of rehoming her, and I don't really want to do that given how long it took this cat to show real affection towards any of us. Now she climbs in our laps and kneads and purrs. This is new, and I don't want to mess it up.

As far as the remaining kittens go, Callie has reached her probable adult size when it comes to bones, and is now filling out. Her face no longer looks even a tiny bit kittenish. She just looks like a very small cat, which is what she is. Unless she has a sudden and dramatic third year growth spurt she'll probably always be tiny.

Sandy, or Boyboy as he is often called, eats so much that I'm not sure how close he is to reaching his adult size. He ought to be tapering off now, right? He still greatly prefers being outside to inside, ran right out the day after it snowed. Aaaaaand then he ran back in again, glaring at me suspiciously.

Like their mother, the two have become much friendlier with the nieces and humans in general. Unlike their mother, they haven't become hugely high strung at the same time.
