This little factoid suddenly means that *so much* now makes sense.

Still have no idea what Ana's triggers may be. The doctor suggested chocolate, but as she doesn't especially like the stuff that seems unlikely. That was my mom's big trigger when I was young, so I already knew that anyway, but if I hadn't I would've learned something. And Ana, you know, she's such a trooper that it can be hard to tell if she even is in any sort of pain at any given moment. *sighs*

I realized yesterday, on an unrelated note, that the nieces have never seen Pollyanna, nor The Little Mermaid, nor my favorite movie as a child (and I'm aware this is a minority opinion), The Rescuers. It's like living in a Disney specific media blackout of sorts, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. I have a vague sense that it is something to be remedied, but really, who has the time?

Other possibilities: soy, cheese (particularly more fermented or hard stuff), cured meat, yeast extracts, avocado? (All for the same likely reason as chocolate.)

I'm suspicious of the prevalence of artificial sweeteners--aspartame triggers me, as well as some others I know. And just try finding chewing gum without it. (I used to like gum. It's almost impossible to find any with just plain sugar.)

I've found it in vitamins, in gum as mentioned, in hard candy, in soft drinks (not labelled "diet" and also containing sugar/HFCS--apparently they just threw it in there for kicks and giggles? WTF?), and even in pickled ginger served with sushi. (Making me VERY angry, as now PICKLES are unsafe and must be scrutenized.)
