I'd show you the link, but it's locked.
Anyway, for those of you who are interested, here's a bunch of the links. To find them, I specifically searched for vegan + calcium, figuring that vegans would be the ones most interested in going against milk. (If you search for dairy-free, or milk-free, you just get sites for supplements, which is so unfair! And if you just search for calcium and sources, you get a lot of sites for iguanas.)
Link the first.
The second.
The third (COLORCODED)
This one discusses calcium in relation to other nutrients.
Milk is, despite the propaganda, not a very good source of calcium. It's also unnatural, in the literal sense of the word, for us to drink *any* milk after weaning (whenever *that's* supposed to happen!), and especially the milk of another species. These two facts alone should be enough to convince people that it's not necessary to drink milk in order to not DIE of weak bones, but... well, the power of propaganda is strong.
Now, consciously, I know that milk is kinda icky, and that curdled milk solids are very icky, and that moldy curdled milk solids are extremely icky, and that all dairy makes me feel bad, physically and otherwise... but I still love me my blue cheese. I'm not perfect. Don't call me out on it, 'k?

Some Ana-related things...
Feb. 5th, 2006 05:58 pm1. Pictures I took came back. Unfortunately, due to my liberal use of flash (oops...) a lot of them show up with a fine-looking Ana... and a really dark background. Plus, a few of them are washed out. The cute ones I took of the spaceship onesie (and the baby inside)? Can't see the pattern on the onesie at all. Drat. We need to find our digital camera.
2. I'm thinking I may have to start a comm. It's easier to take care of them if we have things to do - and, if done right, I could set up a community specifically for the NYC area which discusses specifically things-to-do involving kids. Not a general advice community, or discussion community, just a place to share information. What say you? (Plus, I'd get to advertise freely for french-speaking families, because it'd be MY COMM! Yeah!)
3. ( Cut for cute anecdotes )

Here I am, searching Google to see if I can find an image of that spaceship onesie I want to show you guys (no luck yet). And I come across the following site: Tell me this isn't just the cutest stacky toy you've ever seen!
I wander slightly, and notice that they have gifts for baby girls, and gifts for baby boys... no gifts for plain old fashioned "babies". This can't end well...
Boys get an astronaut set, or a dragon set, or one of three different sports sets, in addition to the fairly bland-and-banal layettes and whatnot that you see everywhere.
A lot of stuff chosen because they're pink. No stacking toys. No dragons to stretch their little minds. Nope. There's a princess gift....
You tell me. Which overpriced gifts do *you* prefer?
