Some Ana-related things...
Feb. 5th, 2006 05:58 pm1. Pictures I took came back. Unfortunately, due to my liberal use of flash (oops...) a lot of them show up with a fine-looking Ana... and a really dark background. Plus, a few of them are washed out. The cute ones I took of the spaceship onesie (and the baby inside)? Can't see the pattern on the onesie at all. Drat. We need to find our digital camera.
2. I'm thinking I may have to start a comm. It's easier to take care of them if we have things to do - and, if done right, I could set up a community specifically for the NYC area which discusses specifically things-to-do involving kids. Not a general advice community, or discussion community, just a place to share information. What say you? (Plus, I'd get to advertise freely for french-speaking families, because it'd be MY COMM! Yeah!)
3. A. Friday, Ana and the baby and I went to the museum, as is our wont. We stayed later than usual, so got to see "Animal Time", where the children get to see and talk about the resident guinea pigs and birds in the museum. The bird refused to come down from his perch (much too smart for this game), but the guinea pig was happy being pet and fed a lettuce leaf. Ana was *thrilled*, and polite. At one point, she starts fiddling with the animal's bedding, so I tell her, gently, that we don't touch that. And she crosses her arms in front of her chest. It took me a minute to realize why... "No, sweetie, you can pet the guinea pig, just don't touch the paper." "OH! *patpatpat*" It was so sweet of her.
B. That same day, in an attempt to settle her down for a nap (she's in hyper-mode of doom), I sit down with her brown bear to read, appropriately, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?".
Before I even turn the page, Ana has taken the brown bear from me, and the book, and started 'reading'.
"Bwown Beah. Bwown beah. What. Do. You. See? I see WED BIRD. Looking. At. Me! *turns page* Wed bird. Wed bird. Whaddayou see? I see... *turns page* DUCK! Looking me! Duck, duck, what are you doing? I see *turns page* FWOGGIE! Looking at me! Fwoggy, fwoggy, what are you doing?"
And on like that until the fish, which quickly turned into a chasing and kissing fest until I stuck her on her bed and watched her fall asleep, fast.
