"It is a lot of work," admitted Mayra Gomez, 15, as she busily tried to untangle herself from yards and yards of blue bedsheet. "But it's way much better than (a worksheet)."

Can one say that? *thinks on this*

You can say "much better", and you can say "way better" (I wouldn't, but I'm fairly confident that I've heard that), but... way much better?

Hm. And you can say very much, but can you say very much better?

*shrugs* Well, clearly you can. I just never heard it before.

And no, this wasn't just an excuse to use my Sejanus icon.

When I'm watching one of those home-decorating shows with my mom, and I start running around the house going "do you hear what she said, ooh, I wonder if she'll say that again", I'm not mocking their accent. I'm actually interested in hearing them do weird things with how they put the words together, and wondering where they're from - while not, of course, caring enough to do any actual work to learn more. Well. Most of the time I don't care.

And when I post in my journal that I heard a strange word, or a strange combination of words, or a novel construction (funner, say), I'm not criticizing, I'm saying "Oooh, coool, does anybody else do that, where do they do that, since when have they done that, is this spreading, can I do that, cooooooool!"

And when I post and say something like "Ana can't get the "y" sound down properly, nor the "l", and given that she hears the word "lock" and starts banging on the door, I wonder if she properly hears it at this point...." I'm not worrying about her ability to speak or hear, I'm going "Wow, cool, I wonder how long I can keep up asking her to say things to hear how she makes these sounds."

Because I think it's cool.

The dictionary, as we all know, is a list of words and their meanings. It often also includes such cool things as the etymology. Oh, how I love the dictionary!

I already knew my adapter for my laptop was going to hell... probably for the same reason my glasses always have scratches in them, y'know? The part that goes into my computer has three tiny holes, and each hole has some metal - but in one of the holes, the metal was gone, so it kept coming nearly undone. Then, on top of that, for the past few days, the adapter itself would stop working until I plugged it out and in. Oh, I knew, it wasn't long for the world, and being near it was completely and totally a bad idea...

Yeah. Burnt my fingers when the wire completely burnt out and got a hole in the casing. Unplugged it, turned off my laptop, on my mom's (because I never wear down my battery if it can be helped).

I *think* that this might actually be covered under the current Dell recall, but I'm not positive because I can't make out my sticker, and don't really care that much. I need to buy a new one. I'm just going to trek the old one with me to the store to ask people who can see it what I need to replace it, but I'm wondering if anybody knows 1. how much this should cost and 2. where this will be cheapest and 3. why I am doomed, doomed, I tell you.

I'll be gone for a few hours, since my mom is using the computer. She's refusing to say anything cute for the journal. Le sigh.
