1. Why is it that sitcom people inevitably are best friends with/married to people whose sole purpose in life is to make snide comments at their expense? Maybe it's just me, but I don't think I'd marry somebody who jumps at every opportunity to insult my cooking, weight, clothes, mother, dog, whatever.
2. Why are most of those insults so bad? Are they trying to make up for a lack of quality with an idiotic quantity? I mean, your average six year old could generally come up with better insults than most of those characters manage.

Wow.

Reading the old TWoP boards....

At the end when Veronica's father said, "Who's your daddy?", and she said, "You are."? At that moment I became convinced that he is not, in fact, Veronica's father, and the reason Duncan broke up with her is because he found out that they have the same father.

From the topic on the VERY FIRST EPISODE, posted way back before the second one had even aired. I am impressed. (I'm not sleeping because I slept late today, and I have to be up early to...day, and because I can nap when I get to Jenn's. Maybe.

Remind me not to go to Germany anytime soon. I just may explode.

Since a one-liner is hardly appropriate, I thought I'd continue with my depressing theme: The terror threat is high. Either we're all in danger, or the government realized it hadn't yet exceeded its budget for fear-mongering. I'm sure that all will be revealed shortly.

And oh, look! The Last Thing We Need Is A Draft. When people start talking like that, I get that nasty praeter itio feeling. I know that's not quite appropriate, but it sure seems like it is. "Oh, we won't draft" (everybody starts thinking about drafts). "Oh, we really wouldn't want a draft" (people remember they were thinking about the draft). "Oh, that's the last thing we need...." (people start worrying about the poor soldiers, and paying even more money to avoid a draft). "Oh dear. Guess we have to draft!"

I can't even process this. Forget the Star Trek thing, I can't process this.

Trigger warning here, it's about child pornography and abuse.

It would've been sooner, but she kindly let *me* nap. She's getting very sweet.

I've got a question. The fastest way to get her to fall asleep is to sing to her. I have an inordinate fondness for traditional songs. You know, the kind where people sleep with their sisters and everybody dies at the end and it's all about sex. Am I warping her little mind by using these as lullabies?
