What is ogden nash?

I added liberal, because honestly I have no idea why that wasn't already in my list. I'm liberal about most things and tend to vote liberal as well^_~

I added two - The nightmare before Christmas and Lilo and Stitch. I've only just got into Lilo and Stitch and I think it's wonderful. I love little sandwich guy. Hamsterville(sp?) sounds like Peter Sellers. Nightmare before Christmas because I think it's a great take on the Christmas story and reminds me a little of the Hogfather. Well, only in that a deathlike character becomes Sanity Claws but you get the idea.

Please explain who vivian vande velde is - thank you.

Another poet. Let me give you an example:

There was a boy, his name was Jim
His friends were very good to him
They gave him cake, and tea, and jam
And slices of delicious ham
And chocolate - with pink inside!
And a little tricycle to ride.
And read him stories through and through,
And even took him to the zoo!
But there it was a dreadful fate,
Which, to you, I now relate.

You know, at least you ought to know
For I have often told you so
That children NEVER ARE ALLOWED
to leave their nurses in the crowd.
Now, this was Jim's especial foible.
He left his nurse when he was able.
And on this inauspicious day he slipped his hand and ran away!

He hadn't gone a yard when - BANG!
With open jaws, a LION sprang!
And hungrily began to eat the boy,
Beginning at his feet.
Now, think a moment how it feels
When first your toes, and then your heels,
And then, by gradual degrees your shins and ankles, calves and knees
Are Slowly eaten, bit by bit.
No wonder Jim detested it!
No wonder that he shouted "Hie!"
The honest keeper heard is cry!
Although quite fat, he nearly RAN to help the little gentleman.

"PONTO!" he ordered, as he came
(for Ponto was the lion's name)
Ponto, he said, with dreadful frown
"Down, sir, bad sir, put it DOWN!"
The lion made a sudden stop-
And let the dainty morsel drop.
And slunk, reluctant, to his cage, snarling in disappointed rage.

But when he bent him over Jim,
The honest keeper's eyes were dim.
The lion having reached his head,
The miserable boy... was dead.
When nurse informed his parents, they were more concerned than I can say!
His mother, as she dried her eyes said
"Well, it gives me no surprise. He'd never do as he were told"
His father, who was Self Controlled,
Bade all the children 'round attend
To James' miserable end.

And always keep a hold of nurse
For fear of finding... something... worse.

I am adding 'Terry Pratchett', simply because your listing of his name reminded me that I had not put in all the authors I intended to in my interest list.

Funny thing, I added that because minkhollow copied my meme and, in the spirit of participation I looked at her interests... and, lo and behold, I'd forgotten to add him when I found discworld. The shame.

So, basically, I made (modified, really) a meme. Because of the meme, I added an interest. You then added this interest while following my meme. Nice circle there.

i chose piers anthony. he's awesome. i went on a mad streak once and read the first 15 or so (up to the color of her panties) books of the xanth series in about 2 weeks. i had lots of time at work. heh. good stuff

what is pdd-nos? i vaguely remember that it's a developmental disorder (the dd part), but that's all i know.

PDD is the inclusive blanket term for autistic spectrum disorders. PDD-NOS (pervasive developmental disorder - not otherwise specified) is, as near as I can tell, the nice way of saying "you're autistic, but we can't tell you whether you're Asperger's or HFA or classic autism". Assuming you believe those categories to be valid, of course.
