VERY IMPORTANT.

The word is NOT backround. It is backGround. It comes from the word "back" and the word "ground". A small amount of thought should convince you that "round" doesn't come into it at all. If you're ever inclined to say "backround", remember that the Bad Spelling Demon eats little boys and girls for dinner if they refuse to spell correctly. I won't tell you what he does to adults.

I was going to comment as follows:

Then I realised that I had completely and utterly made up in my head the content of your post and that if I read your version, the question would be answered. Consequently, I return to my original reaction.

There are people out there who spell if backround? Seriously? And enough to warrant a complaint? I'm stunned.

Amen and amen. Also, word.

I'm sorry, some words are not spelled phonetically. This is NOT one of them. No excuse. :P

I would like to give a formal apology for every time I've spelled it 'backround', which is very very many. It's a very very bad habit of mine, and I can't shake it, it gets especially annoying with HTML and the like. Also, while I'm at it, I'd like to apologise for all the misspellings of definitely, and putting an 'E' at the end of with and both (which I still do on occasion..). I'd like to pride myself on spelling and grammar, but with all my bad spelling habits I don't deserve it.

Back round sounds like a cut of beef. "Ground round"...."back round"...."eye of round"....yeah, I'd say it fits in the meat cooler nicely.

It's also one of the errors I've been lucky enough not to run across too often.

The abbreviation 'BG' comes to mind. Is it just me, or isn't that the biggest hint ever?
