May. 17th, 2004 06:45 pmVERY IMPORTANT.
The word is NOT backround. It is backGround. It comes from the word "back" and the word "ground". A small amount of thought should convince you that "round" doesn't come into it at all. If you're ever inclined to say "backround", remember that the Bad Spelling Demon eats little boys and girls for dinner if they refuse to spell correctly. I won't tell you what he does to adults.

Get it right!

Then I realised that I had completely and utterly made up in my head the content of your post and that if I read your version, the question would be answered. Consequently, I return to my original reaction.
There are people out there who spell if backround? Seriously? And enough to warrant a complaint? I'm stunned.

Pedant warning!
Date: 2004-05-17 04:21 pm (UTC)But you are correct, of course. Except in that one tiny niggling way.

Tell you what. If this keeps up ONE MORE DAY, I'll say it. Right now I'm hoping it'll pretend to die down.

Incidentally, pity that's not a public icon... it isn't, is it? Because I love it most dearly.
