The funny part about that is that Dragon Age 2 is tame compared to Dragon Age: Origins. In DA:O, not only do you get the human/elf relationship possibilities, but dwarves are also thrown in there more (dwarves and elves are both playable in DA:O, so you have more opportunity for cross-species relationships). In fact, the only characters in DA:O you couldn't have a relationship with were the stone golem and the senior mage that was probably old enough to be your grandmother.
The funnier part is that he says that Isabela (basically, a female version of Jack Sparrow) is "quite obviously for the straight male gamer", yet she flirted with my female character as soon as I picked her up. I also successfully flirted with Fenris, and to a lesser extent, Anders (who he claims are gay) on my female character.
Cheers to BioWare for their response to this guy that is so obviously still in his parents' basement (if only mentally).
You can write it off as “political correctness” if you wish, but the truth is that privilege always lies with the majority. They’re so used to being catered to that they see the lack of catering as an imbalance. They don’t see anything wrong with having things set up to suit them, what’s everyone’s fuss all about? That’s the way it should be, any everyone else should be used to not getting what they want.
What's really nice, I find, is the unexpected bump in sales DA2 experienced the day the news on that particular post hit the internet. Not why I made it, but having the higher ups get a bit of takeaway that there's no harm in providing content for an under-serviced group of people who are just looking to game like everyone else is certainly a good thing.
At any rate, I'm glad the message was well-received.
