A blog post exhorting us to buy books with covers that accurately represent the people inside - that is, covers with non-white people on them.
Divers found (old news) the oldest drinkable champagne in a Baltic wreck. I love that they opened one bottle before even coming up.
Fear of `resegregation' fuels unrest in NC
Here's an article about a VERY VERY prototype battery of sorts that refuels when shaken.
A very cute picture of a very rare monkey, befouled with an obnoxious, racist comment in the comments section
On the safety of cosmetics
An article on the science of roads. I had no idea there was such a thing!
The underground is rewinding to revive the cassette — but why?
Status symbol: Facebook is ubiquitous, but is it really an antisocial network?
Kid's meals at restaurants are super unhealthy. Well, duh. But some of the comments are going "Uh, parents should take responsibility!" and really, what sort of parent is going to assume that a kid-sized meal at a sit-down restaurant will be almost 23 hundred calories?

Oh, bullshit New Jersey guy. Like the north doesn't have issues with segregated schools. Or just because you weren't personally affected by it doesn't mean you can't learn about it and understand why it's a problem!
The same type of resegregation is happening in the school where I went to high school, but in a more subtle way. They can't undo the merging of the districts that took place in the 80s, but more and more of the white families are just moving away. They want to send their kids to the schools in the "nice" suburbs.
