Date: 2009-11-16 10:12 pm (UTC)I would rather have a lovely ripe peach or some raspberries (both of which we can grow ourselves and needn't import at enormous expense) than eat a mango anyway.

I know someone who is allergic to potatoes. He can't eat french fries or baked potatoes or garlic mashed potatoes, but these things are still good. Oh so good.

Date: 2009-11-17 06:00 am (UTC)As a kid, I had bad bronchitis one year and had to have this medicine that tasted just like mango snapple. I'd never had mangoes at that point in my life, and never put it together WHY I didn't like them (once I got to try them) until one day I smelled Liz's snapple. Ew, that brought that back! Gross! (This is also why I dislike the smell of hyacinth, as I had to have a nasal clearer that smelled like hyacinths. Worked like a charm, though, and my family kept the medicine well after I stopped needing it just in case they got stuffed up. Even as a kid, I realized this was not medically advised, but it *really worked*!)
