I've always know of their (and cashews and pistachios) evilness, courtesy an allergy! D:

That is a pretty horrifying rash, though. D:

You know, Daniel is morbidly allergic to mangoes? Went into anaphalactic shock even after just KISSING ME a couple hours after I ate a mango. D:

Personally I find mangoes disappointing--the only flavor they seem to have is "sweet", with a faint trace of fruitiness in the background.

I would rather have a lovely ripe peach or some raspberries (both of which we can grow ourselves and needn't import at enormous expense) than eat a mango anyway.

Mangoes were one of my favorite fruits as a child. I quite like them. Plus it was fun, because you have the large pit inside each one that you kind of eat from like corn on the cob or such. My father would slice up a mango, give all of us pieces, and we'd vary who got the center.

Although certainly it's a problem for anyone who is going to have an allergic reaction. But people are allergic to all sorts of things. I know someone who is allergic to potatoes. He can't eat french fries or baked potatoes or garlic mashed potatoes, but these things are still good. Oh so good.

That's understandable. I wish I had better words for tastes. When I was a kid I had to take this oral antibiotic. What I remember was that it really made me think that it tasted like a rainbow if somehow a rainbow tasted bad. I know that doesn't make any sense, but that really is what it tasted like to me - a bad tasting rainbow. Fortunately, this doesn't seem to have ever come up for me again.

Most of the medication I had in childhood was baby aspirin, which I loved the taste of. I was so pleased when I discovered that orange push-ups taste similar to baby aspirin, but don't require taking a dangerous and unnecessary dosage of aspirin to enjoy.

Mangos are awesome! Even if the only way to eat them tidily is to get naked and take one with you into the shower. (I forget who wrote that, but I love it).
