(Thank you!)

I'm not going to really really do anything with it at the time, just play around, at least until open Beta, I think. But so many of my friends have posted about DW lately that I suspect, at the very least, I should mirror posts over there when that happens.

Incidentally, one of you must know the answer. They asked me if I wanted to upgrade my account, and gave me a link to the FAQ on account levels. But all the FAQ says is that paid and premium accounts get more features, not what those features are. What are those features, and why doesn't the FAQ list them, or at least give an idea? Have the precise bonuses of paid and premium accounts not been decided upon yet? If I decide I like DW once it's in the full swing of things (given all the glowing reports of how it's being run and developed now I feel fairly confident I'll like the management a lot better than LJ, at least, and that's crucial) I'd be glad to pay for it. I believe in supporting what I use. But it's nice to know what the tangible reward is!

FAQs are very much in progress; though some may be relatively complete, the FAQ writers are all still plugging away. You may, uh, for example, notice the relative lack of communities FAQs posted to DW as of yet. >_> This is at least half my fault.

But yeah, FAQs are, overall, incomplete on the user-facing side; it's known, people are working as well as they can to get them up and accurate, but take them with appropriate grains of salt until we're out of closed beta at the end of the month. For now, the wiki, mailing lists, and dw_news are the most reliable sources of info.

Yes, that.

Paid account documentation especially is very thin on the ground, because the payment system is still being built, which makes it a little tricky to document. Most probably, there'll be a table of stuff saying what accounts get what features on the same page where you go to buy paid accounts, so the faq will just give an overview (like it does now) and point to the place to get full details.

Heheh. In terms of, if you pay more money you get all these secret benefits, but they won't tell you about them until you pony up.

So, what is this Dreamwidth thing anyway? Is this like the thing created by all the people who got pissed off about the LJ brouhaha from back whenever it was?
