I am SO TIRED right now.
Mar. 29th, 2008 02:50 pmSee, Saturday night (all day, really), I made this big-ass dinner to commemorate Xiggy's leaving, and to celebrate her visit.
My sister had the idea, and it was a good one, to do all the pre-prep first and sort all the ginger, garlic, onions, and spices by recipe, so when it came time to cook, I wouldn't have to run around grating or pressing or measuring 29,000 times.
I hate pre-prep, it always seems like you're wasting valuable DOING STUFF time, but it does make life easier and faster.
So, without further ado, my menu (no recipes unless you're desperate)
Fried eggplant
Onion Cucumber Raita (regular and with soygurt)
Banana Raita (by far the most delicious way to eat bananas and yogurt that I've ever found, even in soygurt version!)
Goat yogurt (kinda - I used it in recipes, but not in my raitas)
Turkey Kebabs
Sour-sour Eggs (addictively good)
Red Beans with Ginger and Yogurt (goat yogurt)
Rice
Gujerati-style Green Beans
Dry Okra
(Purple) Peppered Potatoes
Potatoes with Fennel and Garlic and Ginger and Numminess
Kale in Mustard Oil
Spicy Cucumbers
Carrot Onion Salad
Tomato and Onion Beets (very edible)
I didn't make, but should have, Sweet Potato Cardamon Roti. I meant to last night, to pack for Xigs to go home with, but I just fell asleep, I was that tired.
And it was delicious.
That's the best part. It's also why I haven't posted much lately, so I hope you forgive me.
