Where can one buy a large container of unflavored soy yogurt?

Because, while eating my pumpkin tomato soup today (with sour cream on top for me, but not the kiddos, I'm afraid), I had the best idea ever!

I need to get some yogurt at once and proceed to make raita. Not Indian raita, but Tex-Mex raita, to take the place of sour cream. Take a minute to think how wonderful that would be. Mmmmmm....

But since the baby (this is her official name now - "I not Eva - I THE BABY!") can't have dairy and Angelique can't have dairy and Jenn can't have dairy and Elise and I probably shouldn't have all that cow's milk either, it's either soy yogurt or goat yogurt, and I suspect soy is going to be easier to find around here.

Any ideas?

Well, around here you can find it in any major supermarket and presumably in such granola-y places as Whole Foods, Wild Oats, and Trader Joe's.

:-( I don't know if there's a large incidence of lactose intolerance around here or what, but all the grocery stores have one full cabinet (well, one door width) of soy dairy products in the dairy section and another section of soy cheese where the cheese is, plus tofu and soy meats in the produce section.

I've never *specifically* seen large containers of unflavored soy yogurt (well, I have, but I can't recall where) but there are usually two shelves of soy milk, two or three little shelves of little flavored soy yogurt, and then two or three more mid-sized shelves that hold larger tubs of I don't know what because I don't usually eat soy yogurt (well, the little flavored ones sometimes, especially lime flavor, I think that works particularly well with soy), but I've always assumed they held some variation of more soy yogurt and soy sour cream, and since there are a dozen different tubs, I assume some of them are unflavored. If that makes sense. But no, I've never actually inspected them.

How much do you need? I mean, if you buy the tiny containers on sale and you only need a cup or two, that might be worth it.

Hey, it looks like I might be able to make that recipe! I looked up recipes last night, and the first one I found included heavy whipping cream*, so I just gave up right there.

I'll have to look it up one day and give it a whirl. I'm sure there's a low fat version that would fit into my diet :)

I can skip the sugar or use Splenda instead. And yes, trying to avoid pretty much everything that's tasty not good for me.

This may sound totally out there, but you could probably make your own soy yogurt (http://www.soya.be/how-to-make-soy-yogurt.php). I've made my own (milk based) yogurt and it's much less complicated than I had imagined it would be. Mostly it's just a matter of making sure everything is bacteria-free and then keeping the whole thing warm while incubating.
