1. If I'm correct (and Wikipedia is confirming that this is a legit copy... more or less...) Hermione modified her own parents memories?

I knew it! That girl belonged in Slytherin the whole time. Except for the whole muggleborn thing.

(And if I'm wrong, somebody please correct me and I'll hie me to a bookstore after the water festival tomorrow.)

"Wands are only as powerful as the wizards who use them. Some wizards just like to boast that theirs are bigger and better than other people's"

This is me, snickering like a 10 year old over here. It's nice to know that JK still has the power to amuse.

So, the entire second half of the book is crap. But honestly, I kinda expected that, so it was fine.

Of course she modified her parents memory, but not for a slytherin-y reason. For a very gryffindor-y reason actually.

Now, back to my damned book.

If she was going to use any means to achieve her end, why not just gack them? Dead parents tell no tales. Live parents could probably be unmodified if the right wizard came along, but I don't think Hermione had quite reached the point of using ANY means.

I thought she was more leaning towards not having them give her away. Safe was a sidebar to that.

Also, judging by that little trainstation interlude...I prefer death to Austrailia.

I could only hope for the Wilkins' sake that they remained in Australia with no remodification of their memory.

Maybe that was the fate worse than death that we had long expected, who could say?

Ron: "Twelve Fail Safe Ways to Charm Witches. Explains everything you need to know about girls ... I've learned a lot, You'd be surprised; it's not all about wandwork, either."

I did a double-take on that one. It can't possibly NOT be a euphamism.

Little ronnikins is over 17. So he's a horny bastard who likes to use euphemisms.
That's alright too.
