conuly: Good Omens quote: "Kids! Bringing about Armageddon can be dangerous!" (armageddon)
I am choosing to assume it's the desperately poor parents of a dying child who, in their grief, have forgotten all codes of conduct they should've learned when they were little, and who have given up on hospitals altogether and want to make their child's days at home a little more TV-filled. Because otherwise it just doesn't make sense at all, and we're back to "What sort of scum does this sort of thing?"

At any rate, there's a request out for anybody who has the money to do so to purchase child-appropriate Region 4 DVDs from sellers in Australia (that's where the hospital is) to send to them.

If you're inclined to online-shop at any of the stores listed here (and there's a lot of them!), can I ask you to do so through the portal so the nieces' school gets a small kickback? First time shoppers right now also get an additional 5 Box Tops, which is a lot more paltry than it sounds like when you see it with an exclamation point after it. (It's only 50¢, in fact.) But you know, 50¢ is 50¢.

Additionally, if you habitually buy any of the products listed here and have Box Tops floating around that you end up tossing (the only product I can think of off the top of my head is any cereal by General Mills, but there's a bunch of them), and you'd like to get rid of them by mailing them to me, I'll pay for the stamp. (Well, I'll mail some stamps to you, anyway.)

Poke me if you want information about their school (for shopping the Marketplace, I'll contact you in PMs) or my address (for the physical Box Tops). These little bits of 10¢ here, or 5% there (2% of a computer off of Dell.com, for example, is a lot!) really add up.

Or, if you want to help but do not want to spend money, you can also enter in one of the Sweepstakes. This doesn't require you to sign up for their email, I believe.

You like Sandra Boynton, right? Well, I like Sandra Boynton! (By the way - board books by Boynton are the *best* gifts ever for people with very young children. TRUST ME. Snuggle Puppy is great for a baby shower or first birthday or first mother's day gift (the last might be paired with something else, of course.)

Buuuuuuuuuuuut... all those board books. Tsk. They're so bulky!

So I had an idea. She should totally compile some of the best board books (they're all the best board books) into a hardcover book. Because I'd totally buy that. For... uh... the nieces.

Help me out. Send an email saying just that? Thanks!

I wonder if my sister will buy it?

(For those days when flaming cherries aren't my thing, though I can't imagine having many of those.)

We need 3T or 4T shirts, long-sleeved. We could use 3T pants, but we need those shirts. Last year, we needed 2T shirts, we got that, and now she's outgrown them, and once again everybody seems short of funds.

We have some 3T stuff for her (and lots of jeans!), but not really enough.

If anybody has used 3T or 4T, long-sleeved shirts, we'd be very grateful for them. Post here, I'll send my address.

Similarly, if you need any clothes in the 3-6, 6-9, or possibly 9-12 month range, contact my sister [livejournal.com profile] gingembre, she wants 'em gone.

Yeah.

Which is how I found myself browsing The Children's Place. After all, if I want to ensure she has plenty of non-pink/purple clothing, I have to be on top of the situation, right? Right. Their stuff is surprisingly non-expensive (trust me, after you've seen stores seriously selling children's clothes at $50+, your views of what clothing should cost change drastically. I mean, I understand buying for quality, but... children! They don't *need* quality, they just need lots of clothes so that when they stain one outfit, another's waiting!), and, of course, adorable (of course!). Weird thing, though, these people learned a different set of colors than the ones I'm teaching Ana. Energy? Tidal? Mist? Since when is "mist" this shade of blue? Mist is just fancy-woman fog.

If you're curious, and interested in Helping the Cause (clothes that aren't pink!), you can always comment or send over leftover clothes from relatives or whatever. I wouldn't bother, though - we're hardly desperate here. It might be better off sent to charity or something. I'm sure, if you're so determined to give stuff away (riiiiiiight....), Ana'd prefer some toys or books. I've got a massively insane wishlist at amazon that's fairly worthless.

*goes back to browsing the site*

Energy. Pah! If you can't call it red, try scarlet or vermillion. Colors that are, y'know, colors.
