And he doesn't like it. Well, no big deal, he loses bandwidth while not gaining pageviews, so while I do wish there were more feeds that just linked instead of showing the image, I'm not complaining. Not heading over to his site, the comic isn't that good, I'm just not complaining.

This is the last entry in the feed

And this is the next to last one.

If the RSS feed goes away, or if this nonsense continues, then yeah, I'll unfriend the feed

Nonsense? I'm sorry, although I'll gladly exploit feeds, hypocrite that I am, I don't think it's "nonsense" when the creator of the comic asks somebody who made the feed WITHOUT HIS PERMISSION to take it down... this IS copyright violation, and it DOES cost him money.

You just lost yourself about 500 readers you cocksmoker. Like anyone even really likes your piece of shit comic. I only added it because it was just 1 more to add to my many rss comic feeds.

Pompous fuck.

Firstly, I doubt he's reading our comments. Secondly... grow the fuck up. He needs to pay the bills, same as the rest of us. And adding a comic you don't even like just to have another comic is, frankly, stupid.

An intelligent marketeer takes advantage of fan-based initiatives to ensure that its "fringe appeal" content gets out on as many channels as possible. It's the difference between the artists who embrace, say, the mp3 revolution, and those who rail against it.

I will definitely agree with that one. I do think that more would be gained by finding some way to work with RSS feeds than by fighting against them. However, it's not a moral issue, okay?

I wonder why they then have an RSS feed in the first place if they view it as theft.

1. If you'd read yesterday's comments, you'd know the answer to that. Waiting a day to ask this is a bit... um... yeah.
2. Even if it were their feed, they can change their minds. Full Tilt Features did that just recently, deciding that they really needed to pay their artists and yanking their feeds. It's a pain, but it happens.
3. Sorry for even including your comment, you seem to be a nice individual, etc. etc. etc. I'm just being a snot

Okay, that rant is out of my system. To be clear, I don't think you're wrong in being upset when you lose a feed, nor in deciding it's not worth your effort to go to the site in question to read the comic. However, snotty comments, especially those laced with profanity, are tres overdone. If you want to complain, at least do so with a little maturity, okay?

I'm always amazed by how angry people manage to get about something so insignificant.

yeah, and the comic's not even any good anyways

:)

but i can understand the resentment at this recent action... Illiad's supposed to be a prominent figure within Geekdom, yet here he is keeping his fans from enjoying the comic. Sure, it's "his" bandwidth and "his" copyright, but it certainly doesn't help much with the sense of community or the altruistic ideals that his comic supposedly preaches.

But yes, I think this is more worthy of a healthy *shrug* than any anger or resentment.
