I knew 1 and 2 because I'd previously been corrected on it in a couple other places.

It's funny that I often answer polls because it's less effort, but end up being more likely to comment anyway. Weird.

And for lj-cuts, I chose the "depends on the poster" answer, but it also sometimes depends on the content. I'll also click on cuts if the community is one I know (which is related to depending on the poster, I suppose) and the content seems to be interesting.

And I picked "other" for when I do lj-cuts because I'll also cut for TMI-ness/NWS-ness. Or is that the general interest option?

Oh! And! Since it's related. I never, ever, ever click on links that pretend to be fake cuts, because I despise them. No good can come of deliberately misleading a group of people.

And if I see that the link (for a link within LJ) goes to the reply page, I'm much less likely to click it. That's just manipulation.

Do you mean 1. links that call themselves fake cuts (but aren't), or 2. links that don't call themselves fake cuts (but are), or 3. all links of a fake-cut nature, whether they're just links or fake cuts without announcement, or fake cuts *with* announcement?

I don't blame people for linking to the reply page. A lot of people don't realize they can get to their entries another way besides just clicking on "reply to this entry", nor that the URL can be changed to lead to the entry proper instead of the reply page.

Mostly I meant option number 2, the ones that are likely to suck me in with their falseness. When someone calls a regular link a "fake cut" I just roll my eyes but I might click if the subject matter is neat.

Working backwards:

I completely forgot worksafeness, tminess, and triggery-ness. They fit under "other", not "general interest".

It's not weird that you answer polls because they're easy, and then comment. It's a foot-in-the-door thing, isn't it? Once you take the small step of answering a poll, you're more likely to take the larger step of commenting. Mwa ha ha ha ha!
