Say--a friend of mine is actually an honest-to-goodness expert on children's literature (she's one of the people who vets and judges books for a half a dozen major awards) and she recently recommended this book (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0763621358/qid=1138927406/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/103-2630610-8476658?s=books&v=glance&n=283155) as being absolutely indispensable to children and adults alike.

And she really never does that, so it means all the more.
