Uhh.. Maybe being a musician IS their job. Why should they have to get another one? Being a professional musician is a fulltime job, just like any other professional job.

And what's wrong with making money off of CDs? I'm afraid I don't see the distinction between their earning income from shows vs CDs.

And [livejournal.com profile] conuly, that's actually a fairly outdated and incorrect blog article. Sony/BMG (same thing, not seperate entities as the article implies - Sony BMG is the music arm of the Sony parent) has stopped issuing those CDs and the old ones can be exchanged for free - see http://cp.sonybmg.com/xcp/english/home.html (http://cp.sonybmg.com/xcp/english/home.html) for info on that. I don't know about EMI. Why does he say to stay away from "The Big 5" when he doesn't even know about Warner and Universal?

He is right in that the copy protection schemes in these particular CDs were potentially destructive to the computers, and that they're hard to remove.

But basically, this is all old news and not an issue anymore.
