In our culture, new parents typically read dozens of books and articles, filled with conflicting advice, about parenting. They may take a class or two.
In other cultures, you're assumed to have spent ample time around young children before you had any of your own - siblings, cousins, neighbors. And anyway, you're also assumed to have older relatives and friends who know about kids and who can help you with your own.
The cylons have... what, exactly? Does this girl know anything *about* babies? Has she ever *seen* a baby? (Much less a toddler, preschool-age-child, teenager....) Is anybody inclined to help her with the messy business of having a child, diapers and whatnot?
Even without the fact that this kid is unique, and nobody knows anything about it (other than the fact that its blood is magic), isn't this just a bit of a problem? At the very least, parents were usually children at one point, but she wasn't. How far back do her memories go?
