If you're friends-only, why is that? If you don't mind telling me, that is :)

I mean, is it because you actually had somebody objectionable posting in your journal or reading it? Or is it just a general feeling of privacy?

If you're not completely friends-only (some posts are public, or you make public posts but only friends can comment or somesuch), why is it that way?

Why are you answering my question?

Only some of mine are friends-only... well, quite a bit these days. And I've got seperate levels of security. I do it for several reasons: 1. I know some people who *might* be reading the journal, something that makes me uncomfortable as the main person I screen random posts from once got into a huge snit over something I wrote in livejournal like, two years ago. As if it even applies to me now, or meant anything to her... Anyway, it was hugely unpleasant and has limited my trust in her a lot.

If I write about other friends, I usually make the post friends only so they don't somehow chance upon it and be offended.

Posts about bad stuff in my life or family matters are almost always put into some level of security. There are enough strangers who list me as friends that I would definitely be uncomfortable with some of them reading my posts. Anyway, I don't think that the majority of my "friends" need to read about my personal problems... and certainly no strangers do. They are likely not interested, and even if they are, I wouldn't tell near strangers private things. Only about eight or so people that I trust are actually able to see a lot of my posts. You're one of them, so you might not realize that.
