So, my birthday's in 32 days.
Dec. 30th, 2005 12:04 amI'm going to post a short (hah!) wishlist here, which doesn't really vary much from my Christmas wishlist. Included, I'm listing a few programs for the toddler I'd like to join, but those are *expensive*. Getting out of the house makes the day easier, and having programs to go to makes getting out of the house easier, but... wow. Xigs, can you swing the museum card? The year is ending, and we need to get to work on renewing our subscription if you can't.
And, for a change, I'm listing a few things for me instead of the babies. I'm not totally altruistic :)
As always, my prefered present, though, is Donations to Charity. Go with whatever you like that I'm not totally opposed to, and we'll call it even. My second-prefered present is stuff cadged used - I'll gladly take two used books in place of one new one.
Things you can send online are also good - recipes, icons, fanfic, music files in place of CDs, that sort of thing.
I'm still making a list. I like making lists. If the concept of Santa weren't scary, I'd gladly take his job.
Programs
The Ballet/Swimming I'd love to get Ana for her birthday. I think she'd really benefit from it, and enjoy it.
The Baby Yoga is... interesting, and cheaper than what I'd found elsewhere. Also like the idea of the Wiggle + Giggle, and the cooking - less cleanup for me that way.
Perhaps just a membership at the Y is the way to go here. Don't sing the song, please.
There's always, of course, Gymboree.
A French-speaking playgroup (I refuse to call it a class) would at least ensure that she'd stop *always* refusing to use the language with her Nanen.
We could use a membership to the SI zoo
And one companionship card to the SICM.
Eh, I'll finish this later.
Movies every family (by which I mean *ME!*) should have
(Not all films are available new and legally)
Fantasia
101 Dalmatians
The Jungle Book
Muppet Treasure Island
Thomas the Tank Engine!
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
The Little Mermaid
Toy Story
Dumbo
Aladdin
Robin Hood
Monsters, Inc.
Escape to Witch Mountain
Batteries not Included
Pollyanna
The Parent Trap
That Darn Cat
The Jungle Book
Mary Poppins
Pocahontas
Mulan
Chicken Run
Lady and the Tramp
Wizard of Oz
Sound of Music
Sweeney Todd
West Side Story
The King and I
My Fair Lady
The Princess Bride
The *original* Yours, Mine and Ours
The Neverending Story
Shrek
The Rescuers
The Lion King
Schoolhouse Rock!
Cutting that short....

My much-treasured biscuit(sugar cookie) recipe.
Date: 2005-12-30 05:59 am (UTC)Foundation Biscuits
Ingredients
115g butter(I use unsalted)
1/2 C sugar
11/2 C plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp cornflour
1 egg
pinch salt(I omit that)
Method
1. Prepare an oven 375 deg F/190 deg C.
2. Grease oven trays.
3. Sift dry ingredients.
4. Cream butter & sugar.
5. Gradually beat in egg until mixture is creamy.
6. Work in flour to stiff dough.
7. Roll into balls & press flat with a wet fork onto baking tray.
8. Bake 10-15 minutes until a pale golden brown.(I usually bake them much longer until they look cooked to me)
9. Cool on cake rack.
Varations
Chocolate-- replace the cornflour + 1/3 C flour with cocoa
Lemon/orange-- add grated rind of a lemon or orange to mixture.
Almond-- replace the cornflour + 1/3 C flour with ground almonds and decorate biscuits with halves of blanched almonds.
Cherry-- Add vanilla extract to mixture & decorate with glace cherry halves.
Cinnamon-- Add 1 tbsp cinnamon to mixture.
Florentine-- add vanilla extract, chopped glace cherries, chopped nuts and choc chips to mix.
Choc chip-- duh!
The list goes on. Basically, you can add anything you please. I like the florentine ones the best.

Date: 2005-12-30 06:03 am (UTC)I'm sorry, but I don't think I'll be able to do the whole thing. Stupid hours got cut after christmas and I'm only making like $100 a week. D'ya think I could send you guys a check for a part of it?
I'm so sorry, I know I said I'd do it, but I overestimated how much money I'd have right now. :\
