So, I'm walking around, heading to the bathroom, humming some carols, when it occurs to me...

Me: Hey, mommy?
Mommy: Yes?
Me: Does this sound strange to you? "Holy infant, so tender and mild"? I mean it's -
Mommy: Coook at 350 degrees! Baste occasionally!
Me: Exactly. "We're all going to hellllll!"

We're just not normal. Alas.

*nods*. Someone needs to update some of these songs but then again, one loses the old usages this way. There must be a conspiracy to revise the adjectives tender, mild and possibly holy next. Anyone for some smokey holy(salty?) ham? ;)

Well, tender refers to uhm "tender hearted"...(ok, not much better). Maybe "gentle/peaceful countenance" is more like it.

But mild isn't like beer here, it's mild-tempered? (but so what if it's an infant)
