Dec. 10th, 2005 08:09 pmApparently, this school is putting on a holiday play. They used familiar tunes with new words, in a tradition as old as using "Greensleeves" to sing about the birth of Christ, if not older.
One of those tunes was Silent Night.
Oh dear.
They really should've realized that this would arouse the wrath of many who live nowhere near their district! Using those "smutty, really insulting" lyrics (see, now I wanna see them) instead of the song.
Mind, I have always personally been annoyed at those who re-use old tunes for new purposes in teaching kids. I don't *like* that there's people who don't realize that "This Old Man" is the real song, not "I Love You". But I don't think this is somehow smutty or indecent....
