Because he rocks.
So, we visited Elliot today. Cute kid. We tried to get Ana to nap there, and it almost worked, but when she realized that she could play with neither her friend nor his toys, she announced she wanted to go home.
She was dropping, but she was awake enough to wake him up, and that's not being a good guest, so we left. I convinced her to walk, and was thrilled to note that she was sleepwalking - this, after all, was my goal. I wanted an excuse to tuck her in at Elliot's so she wouldn't fall asleep on the bus!
Eventually, I pick her up, she collapses against me. She's dead to the world. So I turn around... and she wakes up! "No, Connie, I wanna sleep on bus. That way." Grr. I walk "that way" a bit, since I don't want her to wake herself up with her complaining, then I turn around - and again she wakes up! Three times she does this, until we're actually at the bus stop.
And, like always, she fell asleep on the bus, slept while I trudged her home the 29 miles from the bus stop (in the snow! barefoot!), and woke up the *second* I put her on her bed. This, this, my friends, is why I hate it when she sleeps on the bus.

Date: 2005-12-09 01:43 am (UTC)As for the bed thing, with all the jostling on the trip, she probably *did* wake up on the walk, and just didn't do anything until I put her on her bed. But I suspect she woke up the same time she tries the faking sleep thing on most walks, only a block from her home. It's a three or four block walk.

Date: 2005-12-09 01:59 am (UTC)I should mention that Ana's malingering fake-sleep is different from her cute fake-sleep, which comes complete with fake snores and self-tucking-in.
