Yeah, this is sure what Jesus envisioned for his followers. Uh-huh.

I'm well and truly scared. Not just at the level of... chutzpah... from certain segments of society, but also in how neither the religious nor non-religious seem to understand each other. But mostly I'm scared of the crazyfundies.

You just made me realize I don't know what was supposed to have happened after he was resurrected. Did he live out a full life and die of old age? Did he ascend to heaven, or something? Did the bible never really say?

I believe "ascended to heaven" is the usual answer, but I couldn't tell you for sure, off-hand, whether that's mentioned explicitly in the Bible.
