All this fuss over comment emails has made me happier than ever that I don't ever use them.

I mean, let's face it: Comment emails never work properly. If they're not being blocked by one email provider or another, then they're simply not being sent out all right, and vice versa. And sometimes users don't check the box, and then they get upset. I mean....

Does that make the recent debacle a good thing? No. Does that mean you shouldn't be upset it happened? Not at all. Does that mean that I haven't missed a single comment, not even replies to me in communities, not even replies to me in communities where the person didn't know how to reply to a single comment and so it wouldn't've shown up in my email anyway? HELL YEAH.

Because I check all my comments via the recent comments page, and communities I want to keep track of that way to.

Now, if only there were a page to automatically check comments to our posts in communities that we hadn't commented on, I'd be one very happy Connie.

Not to mock your pain, all of you, I'm just happy for me.

All I know is that I'm everlastingly seeing people complaining about comment emails, both on my friends page and the support board. And every time there's trouble with LiveJournal, down go the comments - and they're the last thing to come back up, too.

Yeah. I only have problems with it when LJ does, too. I mainly need them for keeping track of my community posts; I don't know how many comments I've been missing out on... *sighs dramatically*

It's a lot easier for me to use comment emails than to go to a 'recent comments' page, especially as the recent comments page on my lj can only hold up to 15 comments. I can get more than that in a day.

And When i get the comment emails, I don't have to be actively looking at the LJ web site, which is abigwaste of time for me :)

Well, I'll be clear, I use the recent comments page because it's a lot easier than checking my email all the time. I'm really bad at that :) That it's not currently broken is just a plus.

I'm not only mildly peeved over the comments not sending properly, I'm also peeved about posts made by my friends list not always showing up properly on my page. Sometimes hours, one time days after the post was made. That part is the real annoyance.

Posts on your Friends page? You've done the obvious, right, and cleared your cache? And you're taking into account the fact that the times on entries don't always fit real-time? And you don't have anybody on your Friends page with an entry with really bad code in it right now, right?

Completely different issue which I'm not discussing at all. I'm just pointing out how glad I am that I have a system that isn't broken.

Me, I need those comment emails. I have a number of RP accounts, and I can't keep track of them all via the Recent Comments Page.

Until now, they were working perfectly. Which makes this all the more irritating.
