I forgot to post yesterday...
Jenn had ordered Tushies diapers for the baby and Ana. That's the brand she prefers (duh). They'd come on Friday, but Jenn was in the hospital, so the UPS guy left a note on the door and was going to return Monday between I believe 11 and 3.
He came around 9am. I was in the kitchen at the time, and I heard the buzzer. After checking with Jenn to confirm that that *was* the door, I ran downstairs. This whole operation took less than a minute.
By the time I got there, he was already driving away. Now, to be clear, that meant he'd buzzed, then just left, went down the alleyway, and gone.
So I run after him yelling "STOP!" He didn't until I added a "YOU IDIOT!" to the end of that. And they say that flattery (and cliches!) will get you nowhere. So he drives back, bitching about how this five minute delay is putting him so far off schedule... And he keeps bitching. And muttering. When I ask him why he couldn't've waited the minute or so it took me to get to the door, he goes "Well, I was here on Friday and nobody answered". Yeah. Nobody answered on Friday because the owner of these diapers was in the hospital after just giving birth. (No idea why I put that in italics. The circumstances of her hospitalization are surely less severe than the burst appendix or even the broken leg... and none of his business either. Regardless, they go in italics.) Sure, he didn't know that, but just because nobody was there on Friday does not mean the same will apply to Monday, especially as on Monday we'd had two whole days advance warning that he'd arrive!
And then he ran off, leaving the boxes at the front of the alleyway for me to drag to the door and upstairs. Geez. I wasn't wanting him to lug them up two flights of stairs for me, but he couldn't bring them all the way to the door? After everything else, that really pissed me off.
I haven't gotten around to complaining to UPS yet, but I really ought to.
Fucking idiot. (I'd originally called him, after he left, an insufferable idiot, but apparently that wasn't good enough for random onlookers to comment on....)

Date: 2005-10-26 12:06 am (UTC)Still, at least it's a little better than the postal service here. If you're not in, or you don't answer the door within a minute, they try and cram whatever the package is into your postbox. If it doesn't fit, ie, it's anything bigger than a dvd, they just leave it outside your door near the door step. Now, SOMETIMES they'll move the wheelie bin in front of it so people don't realise you've got a parcel on your doorstep and steal it (and I live right next to an allyway/path type thing, so people are going by and noticing things on my doorstep pretty regularly).
I don't know if they're supposed to do this, but I've had it happen 4 times recently. They don't leave a note or anything to tell you it's on your doorstep. I just walked out one day to find my bins moved and nearly stepped onto my delivery :/ I think they're supposed to leave you a note saying 'you weren't in, we'll call back at such and such time or you can come collect the package yourself' but most of them don't bother.
