So, on Serenity....

Prior to the movie: They warned us to get there at least 45 minutes before 7. Now, that would've been good advice if they hadn't given it out wholesale. Instead, all they did was ensure that the people who would've gotten there at 7 got there at 6:15, and those who would've gotten there at 6:15 got there at 5:30, and so on.
Fortunately, I anticipated this, and planned to be there as early as humanly possible. Because of this, I got a decent seat. Not as good a seat as I would've liked, but as good as I could get given my refusal to sit next to *two* people I didn't know.
So, I already knew Walsh was going to die. He's my favorite character half the time, y'know? And I was expecting it, so I kept going 'is this it? Does he die yet? Please no!', but when he *did* die, I wasn't expecting it at all.
When I say he's my favorite character, I mean it. I wanna be Zoe. I mean, not now, obviously, because I don't want to have just lost my husband, but, y'know, before. Well. Come to think of it, Zoe's pretty cool, so I wouldn't mind being her now either. So long as I could concurrently be me, of course :)
I wasn't expecting Book to die. I'm not sure if that was in the spoiler I read or not, but I wasn't expecting it. So when two characters have died, and everybody's ready to get eaten and raped by reavers, I'm starting to wonder if anybody makes it out of this thing alive. They do, of course.
Oh, and to interrupt a second... Simon/Kaylee never did much for me, but now I know what she sees in him. Dear god. Where did he get all those muscles? I mean, damn.
So, onto the Reavers - okay, I can believe what caused them. And I can believe that the Alliance's solution is to pretend that the problem doesn't exist. I'm not sure I can believe that they just erased 30 million (was it million?) people from existance. That world had to have existed for at least a generation or two to have those numbers, even with heavy immigration. And there would've been people around with family on Miranda, or a friend who used to live there, that sort of thing. What, they just killed everybody with any sort of tenuous connection to the place? And where are new Reavers coming from? Shouldn't there be less (don't say fewer, please, the word sounds like fewmets) of them if many of them die, and nobody else is breathing the crazy air?
I did like that even Jayne was completely and totally for doing the right thing. I don't dislike Jayne, so long as he's a character on TV.
River's memories - are they *real* memories, *based on* real memories, or completely fictional? Young River we saw before didn't seem like that Young River - she was playing "dinosaurs attacked and now we have to resort to cannibalism". Cool kid, but not the sort one expects to be vagueish in class like that.
Crazy Assassin - couldn't they all just get along? Like, if they'd talked?
In short, quite a good movie.
And a question. You ever have that feeling like suddenly you get cold, and your skin from your scap downwards seems to tighten, and then you jumpshake and it's good? Like a sneeze? Because I get that, and today it was like a sneeze you don't sneeze, and then since it really was cold I spent the rest of the day feeling off-balance because of it. Tres annoying.
