This, apparently, is why he's not suited to be president.

Not because he's a screw-up several times over, not because he lied to get us into a war, not because he's running us into the ground - but because his lack of ability to get dressed in the morning proves that he's a "retard".

I often misbutton my shirt - not just mine, but Ana's, if she's wearing something with buttons. And I often don't notice. I've left the house with shirts that were inside-out, shirts that were backward, shirts that were inside-out *and* backward. One time, I left the house with mismatched shoes. They were completely different weights, the soles were different heights, they were different colors, and I didn't notice until I was in Manhattan.

I'm really not sure why the misbuttoned shirt thing is a pressing concern. Not only is it really an offensive thing to be getting worked up about, for reasons I hope I don't have to explain more fully, but it's also just plain stupid. While you're there crying about his shirt, all his remaining supporters are saying "See! This is all they have against him! They're petty! They don't have any real concerns! They're stupid!"

And that's not good to let Bush have the higher moral ground. It's just not.

My god that's a dumb thing to be criticizing.

Some of the things people say against him hurt me personally, though logically I know they shouldn't. But when people mock his manner of speech--when he's a far better public speaker than I could ever be--I get hurt. Kind of self-centered reasoning, I guess, but the part of my brain I can't shut up says, "If you think he's dumb for that, what must you think of me?"

I wish people would focus on the important aspects, as you commented. Not this irrelevant stuff.

The fact that those arguments are obviously faulty does nothing to change that their conclusion (that Bush is mentally deficient) is spot on.

"Indeed, considering that he's *affecting* that accent, and that by doing that he's gotten elected *twice* despite having no qualifications, I'd say he's pretty damn clever in that respect."

I think that bit says more about the intelligence of the people that voted for him.

"Well, yes - but the problem isn't just that the arguments are faulty, it's that they're harmful, both to the people making them and to the rest of the world who might suffer from those same problems."

Oh, yeah.

"They got what they wanted - a guy they felt they could talk to and drink beer with. I've never understood why that's preferable to the 'over-educated' type, but I don't drink beer."

Heh. And they're wrong about that, too, unless they're millionaires. Bush only drinks with his "base".

Of course. But saying "nu-kyoo-lar" makes him sound like he'd go drink beer with Average Joe.

I've always wondered what accent he uses in private when there's no press around, like with his family (or his "base") or whatever.
