Oh. My. God.
Aug. 26th, 2005 03:18 pmBarefoot Traditions
Dive feet first into world culture. From India to Japan, explore traditions and play games that incorporate feet. Draw fancy, Indian-inspired decorations on your feet using henna. Ages 5+
Found that at the Brooklyn Children's Museum. If only Ana were a little older! Alas!
I'm five and up, right? Maybe I could sublet the kid to somebody else...? *sighs*
I'll spare you all my normal rant on how Shoes Are Evil (except in special cases) in order to squee that Ana is finally willing to go barefoot. Only problem? Now she wants to go barefoot in places even *I* consider inappropriate, like at the zoo where the peacocks wander about... And if the ground is too rough, she doesn't want her shoes on, she wants to be carried.
Interesting thing. I remember my sister telling me a long time ago that when a guy lifts up a ballerina* that's only really possible because she holds herself properly - if she didn't, he'd grunt and put her down fast.
Man, is that ever true. If Ana is awake, and holding herself up, she doesn't feel heavy. When she's asleep, I can't put her down fast enough!
*My sister called where that asterisk is. Why? Because my mom had called her telling her to call me to tell me to call my mom. I don't understand my family sometimes.

And in response to the comment lower down about the dad benchpressing the cousin -- My dad used to do that, and something we called "tom thumb," where we would actually stand on his hand and balance.
Ah, I miss being teeny.

Date: 2005-08-26 08:22 pm (UTC)(Hm. If you're being serious, you might want to meet me first. Make sure I'm responsible. We have a membership card that apparently gets us into that museum, so it's Free for Me.)

Date: 2005-08-27 01:43 am (UTC)Aha! October 1, 3 pm. Plenty of time for us to try the "meetup" concept.
(Ran off to the drums, as Ana woke right as you commented)
