Polygamist culture does not view women as property. Some fucked up polygamist cultures that need to be stopped view women as property.

Polygynist culture is far more likely to view women as property. Polygamy is the general term for multiple marriage. Polygyny is when only the men get to have extra wives. Although one of the worst women as property cultures was polyandrous (woman was given as wife to a group of brothers who shared her. The need for polyandry was likely due to high infanticide rates of girls).

I am highly against people being viewed as property, people being forced to marry or have sex, and child abuse. Plus rape in general. But I do wish people would stop implying it's the fault of the polygamy. It's not - it's the fault of people with horrible attitudes about their right and ability to do whatever they want or that some people have to do whatever they say. That's a problem in culture after culture, regardless of the marriage dynamic the culture has.

I'd be a polygamist if it were legal and part of a culture that allowed homosexual marriages as well.
