This may be of interest to other Tamora Pierce fans. Interesting that she's breaking away from her normal quartet way of writing... not sure if I like that idea....

And notice that she's doing a lot of "backstory" with Tortall... Numair growing up, books set 200 years ago (to them), Maura (well, that's recent, but still!). Very interesting...

I'm pissed that I have to wait until 2005 for anything other than a Tortall book, though. I like *both* sets of them, why can't I get them both sooner? MOMmy! Make her stop taunting me!!! *sighs*

Um... Anyway. That said.... JennJenn? We going to the booksigning this month?

Hey, Uly, I've known you're a fan of Tamora Pierce's books for a while now and was meaning to ask you a question about a certain series of hers but never got around to it. So, this seems like a fine opportunity. ^_^

Okay, I haven't read any of Tamora Pierce's books, but I own the first three books of "The Circle Opens" series. I'd been meaning to start the first one soon, but I just read in the back of these books that this series is in fact a sequel to another series. Do you think it'd be better to read that series first before I start "The Circle Opens," or would it not really matter?

Just wondering. :)

Thanks for the advice. I was afraid that I'd start and there'd be so much info I was already supposed to know, so...

Luckily I think I've seen the first series at the local library, so no worries about them not having it. ^_^

It might be a while before I start Circle Opens, though. I just started Voyager, third in the Outlander series, and it's a good 1000 pages at least. I'm not the quickest reader, either, when it comes to reading for a long time. And after that I'd like to finish A Series of Unfortunate Events, which I've sadly been ignoring for a while. ^_^;;;

Again, thanks.

How exciting! Too bad we have to wait years for them. At least she writes quickly in comparison to some authors (*stares pointedly at George R. R. Martin and Joan D. Voigt*). Then again, her books are very short in comparison to GrrM's... But still! Rawr.

I'm most excited about the new circle books. I'm overly fond of Briar and Tris. I haven't liked some of the Tortall books as much... I couldn't get thru the most recent Tortall series, the ones with Keladry? I got bored halfway through the second or third book. I'm really excited about the new book, though. I can't wait to read it. The libraries should hurry up and get it soon!!

I'm only part-way through 6. ^_^;;; I really have to get on the ball; I think I've got through 9, just haven't read them. @_@

I don't have one because I can't pay for one and haven't ever asked anybody for a code. ^_^;;; I'm not good with journals in general, but LJ looks pretty cool. So I wouldn't mind having one (especially for the 100x100 avs, yum), but haven't ever asked anybody.

I loveloveLOVE GrrM. The books are fantastic. Bloody and dark and depressing... but still fantastic! I can't wait for the next one.

I'm not sure I can say exactly why I didn't like Kel. I was just bored - they didn't seem original in comparison to the Daine books or some of the circle books. They were just Alanna redux. Maybe they got more interesting later on, I dunno. I think I'd just gotten a hold of Joan D. Vinge's cat books when I was reading the Kel series, and they claimed my attention completely so I gave up on Kel.

Sure. ^_^

I'll promise to update it, but I'm horrible with journals and diaries.
