OOH! BOOK NEWS!
Nov. 2nd, 2003 07:39 pmThis may be of interest to other Tamora Pierce fans. Interesting that she's breaking away from her normal quartet way of writing... not sure if I like that idea....
And notice that she's doing a lot of "backstory" with Tortall... Numair growing up, books set 200 years ago (to them), Maura (well, that's recent, but still!). Very interesting...
I'm pissed that I have to wait until 2005 for anything other than a Tortall book, though. I like *both* sets of them, why can't I get them both sooner? MOMmy! Make her stop taunting me!!! *sighs*
Um... Anyway. That said.... JennJenn? We going to the booksigning this month?

Tamora Pierce Question
Date: 2003-11-02 07:39 pm (UTC)Okay, I haven't read any of Tamora Pierce's books, but I own the first three books of "The Circle Opens" series. I'd been meaning to start the first one soon, but I just read in the back of these books that this series is in fact a sequel to another series. Do you think it'd be better to read that series first before I start "The Circle Opens," or would it not really matter?
Just wondering. :)

Date: 2003-11-02 08:49 pm (UTC)Luckily I think I've seen the first series at the local library, so no worries about them not having it. ^_^
It might be a while before I start Circle Opens, though. I just started Voyager, third in the Outlander series, and it's a good 1000 pages at least. I'm not the quickest reader, either, when it comes to reading for a long time. And after that I'd like to finish A Series of Unfortunate Events, which I've sadly been ignoring for a while. ^_^;;;
Again, thanks.

Date: 2003-11-02 10:38 pm (UTC)I don't have one because I can't pay for one and haven't ever asked anybody for a code. ^_^;;; I'm not good with journals in general, but LJ looks pretty cool. So I wouldn't mind having one (especially for the 100x100 avs, yum), but haven't ever asked anybody.

Date: 2003-11-02 09:42 pm (UTC)I'm most excited about the new circle books. I'm overly fond of Briar and Tris. I haven't liked some of the Tortall books as much... I couldn't get thru the most recent Tortall series, the ones with Keladry? I got bored halfway through the second or third book. I'm really excited about the new book, though. I can't wait to read it. The libraries should hurry up and get it soon!!
