I was thinking that maybe the commenters themselves screened their threads, but after lookiing over there, I think not.
Maybe they're trying to cut down on the junk comment frenzy that usually happens in news posts.
And I'm glad they finally made a post about the OpenID! That freaked me out when I noticed it hours ago and couldn't find a news post about it. Lj_dev to the rescue at that point.
