I'd say there's a definite correlation. I think dollhouse furniture is cute as hell, but real furniture sparks nothing in me, except perhaps a desire to sit.

I'm sretty sure that finding small things "cute" and "adorable" was something genetically bred into human beings near the begining of the species to inspire them to take care of their young instead of getting pissed at them for crying all the time.

This knowledge doesn't make it any less cute though.
