They've raised the user picture limit for permanent accounts to 100.

Well, shit. Now I want one. And I didn't really before. And I still can't afford one. And even if I would ask people to spend that kind of money on me, nobody would.

I'm so not happy. About the only way I'm getting one of these accounts is if all of you decided, out of the blue, to buy me coupons. Like that's happening.

Stupid whiners, making life more annoying for everyone.

I don't want 100 pictures...I had trouble filling 50. Now, if they made it so that you could upload mood icons to LJ (scrapbook doesn't count; it's an unwieldy system with illogical filenames), or enabled FTP upload of images, I'd be a lot happier. Oh, and the ability to make unlimited styles. I think it stops you making more than 10 or 15. I'd trade a userpicture slot for a style slot :)

You get a client program, a username and a password, and then you can upload a lot of images at once. Advantages over the Scrapbook interface include the fact that it wouldn't have horrible preview images, the files keep their own names (try doing a mood theme when all the files are called a string of random letters and numbers) and it's much faster than uploading images individually, since you can just shift-click and select a lot of images.

Because you don't get preview images :) scrapbook's ones are badly compressed.

This is what the client I use looks like:

I'd love unlimited styles too, and no limit on layers (I think I'm five away, thanks to making layers for the stylecontest and also having a lot of testing stuff there). There is a hacky way to increase the style limit, though (which you may well know, but I'll explain it just in case).

Using the wizard with a layout creates a new style, which counts towards the style limit if you try to create a new style, but which can be generated after the limit has been exceeded. So you can switch to Clean and Simple, for example, through Customize (http://www.livejournal.com/customize/), and it'll generate a wizard style on the Custom Style page for that layout.

You can then edit that custom style in any way (rename it, change the layout to another layout, etc). If you switch to Clean and Simple again, it'll create another of those wizard styles, again modifiable. And so on.

Yeah, I noticed that by accident this weekend as I started playing with the new system styles :) Say, if you use the simple customisation wizard when you've no more layer space left, does that work the same way, since it creates a new layer? What is the layer limit, anyway? I have no idea how close I am to that.

Jeez. How mean! Now it almost is worth it.

Hmm .. my birthday is coming up ... only eighteen days away, in fact. I wonder if I'll feel guilty later if I ask my rich and generous friend K. to buy me a permanent account for my birthday. He has, after all, been paying for LJ for years now. Hmm.

Curse you, livejournal, for putting me in such a moral dilemma!

I think you're one of the very few people that actually NEED a permanent account. I'll see what I can do or maybe I might feel generous. Keep up the LJing.

I would only buy one if they other things like tweaking your journal bling bling style or something like that. Forget the pictures.
