Lianne Mars isn't a "selfish evil bitch" and neither is Lilly Kane.

First off, evil is a word that really should be limited to the worst things people can do. If you can be evil for stealing and sleeping around, what word is left to describe genocide or torture?

Secondly, c'mon. The vast majority of characters in VM are fairly complex. It's good. If you can forgive Logan for being cruel prior to his mother's death, you can forgive the lesser crimes of being an alchoholic and being... well, a sixteen year old girl with some serious issues.

Not that this excuses either of them from their behaviour, no, but. Hey, here's an idea. Why don't you get yourself thrown in circumstances you can't control, whichever ones for you those are, oh, and let's drop a few years of maturity, wisdom, and sense off of you. Then you come back and tell me how perfect you were.

I agree.

I also think people are being pretty unfair to Veronica. To be sure, she's no angel. But some people are acting like she's being this horrible person for turning Logan in. Look, at the time she honestly thought Logan had killed her best friend. His alibi was totally blown. Plus, we don't ever find out for sure that he *didn't* know about the camera in that room, though that pales next to the possibility of him being Lilly's murderer. Given all of that, I don't blame her for what she did. It would have been stupid to do anything different.

I see Lianne as being weak more than evil. As for Lilly, well she never was my favorite character, but I don't *hate* her. She was just a teenage girl that got around. That does not a villain make.

It's kind of odd how forgiving people are of Logan. Yeah, I have a crush on him too, but I can still remember his jackass days and how he was responsible for V's rape. I like him, but I still very much see him as a mixture of good and bad. Plus, it's been hinted that he abused Lilly, if only by Weevil.

Oh god. At the TWoP boards, I've had somebody tell me - twice, no less! - that I am wrong for saying that if I thought a close friend or family member (not even somebody I thought had been planning on taping me having sex, and who I *knew* had a part in my rapething!) was a murderer, I would turn them in instead of confronting them. Because, of course, my misplaced sense of loyalty is so much more important than 1. justice 2. preserving my personal safety.
