People are stupid. I wander among a forum full of BSG-talking, and such silliness.

"If I were in Adama's place, I would've used the law to get rid of Roslin - I mean what about separation of church and state!"

This isn't America. This is somewhere else. As near as I can tell, they don't *have* separation of church and state. We've only seen references to two religions, one of which is Cylon. A priest is required to swear in a new president. We know they have banned books, so where did you get the idea that they would of course have separation of church and state?

Or, when I mentioned that Kobol's ruins aren't nearly ruined enough for being completely abandoned for 2,000 years:

Visit Iraq, visit Italy, visit Peru (Inca ruins), visit Mexico, visit Arizona (Anazasi ruins), visit Greece, visit China, visit Japan, visit Jeruselum, etc.... Even with zero maintainence stuff just doesn't disappear back into the earth. Especially when one realizes that the story claims a very sophistacated and developed culture capaple of traveling to the stars. Think Manhatten, nearly 100% paved. The ground tunneled and developed many feet down over the entire island. That kind of devopment doesn't just disappear back into the earth...

Iraq? Japan? China? None of those places had "zero maintenance". They've all been dug up and preserved by devoted archeologists - many of them, in fact, were dug completely out of the ground, where they'd been swallowed up by the earth.

Manhattan? Last month's Discover (or the month before....) discussed this. Said that if humans completely disappeared from the earth, Manhattan would be entirely overgrown within 200 years. And I believe this. Walking on Staten Island, I've seen plants growing up through the asphalt when it had been left alone for only a decade or two. I've seen fences completely swallowed up by trees within three years. There's this street that's part of an urban experiment. No traffic, no people on it for the past few decades. It's a tiny sidestreet of forest. I have to take a picture one day so you can see what I mean. You can't see that it was a paved street less than 50 years ago!

And this is without major movements of the earth, or flooding, or huge wars which would devastate a lot of property before nature had a chance to get started. This is even without any real time.

2,000 years, no people? You wouldn't see clear patterned ruins, not like that.

I'd tell her that, but the conversation's moved on and I can't contact her privately. Tres annoying.
