Well, we all heard it, didn't we? I didn't get it, though. I thought that they meant "happy". I was *really* out of touch with mainstream society at that age, and read a lot of old books :) When I finally, finally figured out what they meant, I still didn't get it. I mean, why would anybody even care?

I still think that. And it irks me. I wish I could say I'm nice and tolerant and all, but that's just not true. I'm not nice, or tolerant, or open-minded, or any of it. I just don't care. Sure, I want you to be happy, in a vague sense, and if I know you I actually *do* want you to be happy - but I'm not being tolerant of you! I really don't care what you do! I don't care what you believe, either, so long as you aren't harming me, or unhappy with it. It'd be great to be able to talk about how wonderfully open-minded I am about people's beliefs, but I can't do that because I just don't care! I'm vaguely interested in religion, it's an off-and-on passion of mine (admittedly, most of this passion died when I realized that the Greek and Norse gods probably didn't exist....), but... yeah, not caring. So, I don't care who you fuck, and I don't care how you pray, and I don't especially care what you eat... I wish there was something I *did* care about, just so I could be tolerant.

*sighs*

*giggles*

Pretty silly rantling, huh? Lub ya all dearly. *hugs everyone and hands out kittens*

*sheepishly raises hand*

I've started doing that again.

No, no, wait, let me explain. My friends and I also use the word "Goth" as an insult. Most of us are bisexual, some of us are gay, and all of us wear an inordinate amount of black and like music in the metal/industrial/80s type area, meaning that the two words do actually apply.

Saying "You goth!" or "you gay!" (or "goph" or "ghey" or any variations thereof) is an affectionate poke. "You're behaving like a stereotype, but I love you." Usually anything we do could be described as either 'goth' or 'gay', as polar opposites (dancing like a maniac? Gay. Sulking in the corner? Goth, etc etc), so it's a bit difficult to escape.

But we only do it because we love each other.

So, um... yeah.
