I hate the way the people at the top of the chain of command try to wriggle out of responsibility. If the newest volunteer writes a crap answers and gets approved by the newest supporthelp in general/unknown, I will personally apologize to the user if I see it. Because I am directly responsible - I set up the training system and authorized these people to take these actions, and I am responsible for things that go wrong. I am not solely responsible, but I am responsible.That's what leadership is all about. I admit, it's a lot harder to say, Yes, I made a mistake. I thought these soldiers were sufficiently trained and the setup was sufficiently organized for there not tobe atrocities. But I was wrong, and there was massive abuse, and I am responsible and we must change the system.
That's hard to say, but a real leader would say it.
