Edit: Once again, the Museum of Menstruation comes through for us, this time listing terms for menstruation.

I plan to use at least one a month on this journal until I get bored. These terms may or may not coincide with my actual period.

The point is... they were feeding off MY blood. MY uterine lining. And I have no great love for ants at the best of times.

No, they weren't parasitic. They were scavengers, sure, but they were not feeding off the blood you were currently using. They didn't harm you in any way.
