Wow... I'm so proud to be Colombian right now..not that I'm not proud at other moments. I guess I'm more so right now.
I'm definitely posting and saving this article. It really shows the new wave of change goign on in my homeland & reinforces why I want to go back to check it out!
Wow... the man is a genius. Even if some of it turns out to be mistakes, to have thought of it and pulled it off... he's a genius.
I love the voluntary tax. I love that many people said, yes, I care about my community and am willing to pay to help it.
And from a psych perspective... I think he's doing the right things. The problem with cities is the breakdown of community. He's bringing the concpet of community back to people, and making it work on a larger scale. People haven't really found a way to do that, and it looks like he has. This is vital. Community approval/disapproval keeps many behaviors in check, and we lost that. Many evils go along with that, like community disapproval of harmless things like homosexuality. But we still need communities. And I think at a more basic level, humans are happier that way, as we evolved in an environment of tribes. So, I think it's good. Work on teaching the community to have good standards, and go back to being a community. Then it's easier to care about the people you see, because they're in your circle.
