It's all in your head.

I had somebody who is bipolar once tell me that people tell her this all the time. "It's all in your head". Cracked up when I heard this. Of course it's all in her head, that's why it's a mental... something. That doesn't mean it isn't real!

It's just a conspiracy theory.

Spoken about this before. If I have a theory that there was a conspiracy, then naturally it is a conspiracy theory. That does not, however, mean that it isn't true. There sometimes are conspiracies.

You're just being paranoid.

And paranoid people still have enemies. Remember that!

Okay, I'm done. Djusk' a.

That's kinda the way I hate people saying "It's *just* a myth."

Dude. Myths tell us some very human truths. :-P

Myths are the primary example of "the map is not the territory," though.

I'd like to quote Nirvana on this one:

Just because you're paranoid
Don't mean they're not after you...

I perfer to quote Harvey Danger.

Paranoia paranoia
Everybody's coming to get me
Just say you never met me
I'm running underground with the Mole People

<-- bipolar I hate the "it's all in your head". Get it from my family all the time. Have quit talking to them about anything.

Am so tired.

Am never driving 10 straight hours again.

Dude, reality is "just in your head". The annoying thing about that one is that it is invariably said by people who aren't saying what they actually mean, namely "you're just making shit up".

I find the best way to explain to people the issue with "you're just being paranoid" is to take an example of a paranoid schizophrenic, being kept for observation in a mental-health facility, who believes he is being constantly monitored, poisoned, and imprisoned against his will.

I'm sure a smart woman like you can figure out the intrinsic problems with calling this man's beliefs "crazy."
