*rolls eyes*
Feb. 17th, 2005 09:02 amI shouldn't read
customers_suck. The funny posts are funny, but the dreck is... bad.
Let me get this straight: This guy is ignorant, and doesn't know what a la carte means. He also mispronounces it, which is understandable because he's clearly not familiar with the term. When the server figures out what the problem is and explains what it means, he politely says "okay, I guess I'll have the chili".
And this makes him an inbred sucky customer? And it's appropriate to make fun of him for this?
Maybe I'm missing something. Like the part where being an adult meant acting like an adult, perhaps I was confused as to what that means.
Edit: On the other hand, if I didn't read it, where would I get my righteous indignation from?

Date: 2005-02-17 06:24 am (UTC)These are people, in some cases, who don't deserve their jobs. If they can't treat customers with respect, they should find a job that doesn't nee them to deal with people.
I honestly feel bad for their customers.

Date: 2005-02-17 06:49 am (UTC)On the other hand, they have just as much a right to complain as anyone else. We all need somewhere to vent, where there are other people who can understand and sympathize. It's not easy to stand in one spot and be nice to all 500 people you come into contact with every day. The only reason I don't bitch about my job in my journal, is because things don't really bother me enough to have to (usually), and, well...my boss has the URL to my website which contains a link to it. Heh. I could go friends-only, but that would take just that much more time and energy...more than that customer deserves, obviously.
But yeah...I'll go with that whole if-you-don't-like-it-don't-read-it mentality. That works for me. No sense in getting all worked up because someone doesn't like their job. Serving people isn't easy. Customer service isn't easy. It takes a lot of patience and people skills you practically need to be born with.

Date: 2005-02-17 02:37 pm (UTC)I spent about a week and a half reading it, and even enjoying it in parts, but a week and a half was all it took for me to realise that many of the people posting there were no better than those they were posting about.
