There are some quizzes and memes which can break your journal/friends page. I don't mean like "they can force you to scroll" or "they can make you have to skim down over a lot of boring stuff" but like they can break your friends page or journal so all of a sudden your entries appear out of order, or you can't find the comment link for a certain post, or you have an annoying popup appear asking you to log in to roadrunner.net.

Very annoying, and the way to solve it is to always use the lj-cut. It's just polite.

This has been a public service announcement.

Whoa. I've never seen one of those. What a shitty thing to program.

I'll cut from now on. Thankee for the heads-up!

Well, the instructions for one set of quiz results did specifically tell people to delete the closing tag for an image or a link, I forget which. But that was the author's poor knowledge of HTML, not a malicious plan to break things afaik.

It wasn't intentional. It was a "delete this section" to just get the picture or just get the text. She understood function, but not structure.

Thank God someone said this. What pisses me off is that this always happens in communities, and when you say "it broke my friends page" people call you a wanker and tell you to scroll.

....Uh. Yeah. Scrolling != broken. o.O

I'm not sure if it's just me, but when my computer hits a picture on the screen it scrolls really slowly-- like the Sinfest comic.

Actually, depending on the coding and your hardware/software, it can actually make your browser completly unusable.

Which ones were they? I admit I've not cut a few of my recient ones. But the people seeing those are only people that asked to see memes as I have a posting filter for them. *shrug*
